Ask Siri about the picture someone sent you, explained by monkey
Stop scrolling a chat for an old photo. Since iOS 27.2, Siri can look at pictures people sent you in Messages to answer your question: the time on an invite, the address on a flyer, the date on a ticket. Here's how, and what to ask.
Apple's iOS 27.2 update (out October 26, 2026) lets the new Siri use more of your stuff to answer a question, including photos attached in Messages. So when someone sends you an invite, a menu or a ticket as a picture, you don't have to dig for it. You just ask.
How to use it
- Update your iPhone: Settings, General, Software Update, then install iOS 27.2 or later.
- Make sure the new Siri is on: Settings, Siri, Try Siri AI. Until you switch it on, iOS keeps the old Siri.
- Ask Siri your question out loud or by typing, the way you'd ask a friend.
- Siri checks the pictures in your chats and answers.
Good things to ask
- "What time is Sam's party?" (the invite someone sent as a picture)
- "What's the address on the flyer Mum sent me?"
- "What date is on the concert ticket Alex sent?"
- "What was that restaurant you told me about last week?" (Siri now remembers past chats with you too)
Which phones and where
- iPhone 16 or newer, iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
- Not in the EU or mainland China.
- Languages: English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
